Terms
What the service does, what it does not do, and who is responsible for what.

What this service is
SGO Direct is a directory of scholarship granting organizations and a record-keeping tool for contributions made to them. We help you find an organization, pass your payment to it, and keep your documentation together.
What this service is not
We are not a tax adviser, a tax preparer, a broker, a charity, or a scholarship organization. We do not decide whether a gift qualifies for the §25F credit, and nothing here should be read as advice about your own tax position. Speak to a qualified tax professional.
We are not affiliated with the IRS, the U.S. Treasury, or any state government.
Your account
Keep your password to yourself and tell us if you think someone else has it. Give us accurate details, since your name and address appear on receipts you may rely on. You must be at least 18 and giving on your own behalf.
Contributions
Your contribution is a gift to the organization you select, not to us. Stripe processes it as a direct charge on that organization’s own account, and that organization is the merchant of record. Once a contribution is complete it is between you and them.
Refunds are theirs to issue. If you need one, contact the organization. When a refund is processed we record it against your contribution and your totals update.
We may decline or reverse a contribution where we suspect fraud, where the organization can no longer accept payments, or where we are required to.
Directory listings
A listing is not an endorsement, a recommendation, or a determination that a gift will qualify for any credit. We show where each listing came from and whether we have checked it. We work from public records and state publications, and those can be incomplete or out of date.
Fees
We do not charge donors. Where an organization has agreed to a service fee, that fee is paid by the organization and never added to what you give. Any such fee is disclosed before you pay.
For organizations
If you administer an organization here, you are responsible for your own eligibility, your own Stripe account, your own scholarship program, and your own reporting obligations. Confirming a contribution attests that you received it. It is not a determination about the donor’s credit. You bear refund and dispute liability as the merchant of record.
Availability and changes
Parts of this product are deliberately unfinished while federal regulations remain unpublished, and we will change it as they arrive. Where a change affects a receipt you already hold, we reissue it and keep the original.
We do not promise the service is always available. We will give notice of material changes to these terms.
Liability
We provide the service as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including a tax benefit you expected and did not receive. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict of law rules.
